COURSE OVERVIEW

Increasingly it is being recognized that the coaching profession has a credentialing and certifying process. Parents and consultants are becoming more aware of this professional industry standard of ethics and practices, and are inquiring as to the certification of staff. Training in this coaching model will enhance a program's credibility and marketability while demonstrating a commitment to staff development and excellence.

As a way to support and empower parents, struggling teens and young adults, many program staff and professionals are seeking alternatives to the therapeutic model and coaching has become a viable option.  Specialty schools and programs have recognized this trend over the past few years as the coaching profession has had increased visibility. The NEXT STEP Coach Training offers a professional, in-depth coaching model.

Coaching is a non-therapeutic model that develops a collaborative relationship with clients. This course provides preparation and guidance leading to certification in coach specific training hours as approved by the International Coach Federation. Our curriculum was developed to meet or exceed all ICF approved standards. This is a stand-alone certification or NEXT STEP will provide the documentation needed to pursue further accreditation with ICF.

NEXT STEP offers four different Training Options with each providing a format to suit individual or organization requirements. Three of these courses meet the requirements for certification.  The fourth is a one-day training in five critical coaching skills. See registration and attendance requirements in Policies and Procedures section below.

A complete curriculum manual is included in the course fee. Additional recommended reading and reference books are "Co-Active Coaching" by Laura Whitworth, Henry Kimsey-House and Phil Sandahl and "Parent As Coach" by Diana Haskins.  Both books may be purchased directly from Amazon by clicking on the image below.
